Altera is a Beirut based design studio working across architecture, interiors, landscape and outdoor spaces, and event design. We see these fields as different scales of the same question: how should people experience a space?
Your home, a restaurant, a garden, a rooftop, an entrance, or a temporary set-up may each have a different function, but they all need the same foundation: a clear purpose, a strong vision, and a design process that connects how the space looks with how it works.
As the way people live, gather, work, and move continues to change, spaces are expected to do more. They are no longer only built, decorated, or arranged — they guide movement, support behavior, create atmosphere, carry identity, and add value over time. At Altera, we work through that overlap: between function and feeling, between technical control and fresh perspective, between what a client needs now and what the space can become.
Architecture is the framework that gives a project its long-term direction. We begin with the site, the brief, and the client's needs — responding clearly to context, use, budget, structure, and future value. This is where vision becomes buildable.
Interiors are where architecture becomes personal. We work through layout, circulation, materiality, lighting, and proportion before styling — so everyday use feels easier, more intentional, and more connected to the people using the space.
Outdoor spaces are not the leftover parts of a project — they extend the full spatial experience. Terraces, rooftops, gardens, courtyards, and pool areas, shaped by movement, views, shade, atmosphere, and the rhythm of daily life.
A social event is temporary, yet what makes one work is sequence, focal points, and a sense of arrival. Each setting is designed as a temporary environment where layout and detail support how people gather, move, pause, and remember the moment.
Every project begins by asking what the space needs to do, what it needs to communicate, and what kind of experience it should create. From there, we translate ideas into layouts, materials, visuals, drawings, and decisions that later manifest into a physical space.
The outcome is a design direction that feels clear, intentional, and grounded — each decision shaped by how the space will function, how it will be built, and how it will be experienced over time.
Every project carries potential, but it needs the right direction to become clear. We define that direction through purpose, proportion, function, material understanding, and spatial experience — creating spaces that feel resolved and specific to the people, context, and intention behind them.
For Altera, design is not about changing everything. It is about knowing what needs to be reconsidered, what needs to be refined, and what should remain.
We are proud of the long-term relationships we have built with many of our clients, and we look forward to continuing to serve them and earn their trust for many years to come.
